The building complex, which was acquired by the Religious Province of St. Peter of the Order of St. John of God - Fatebenefratelli in 1997, consisted of two partially separate buildings (Gym Body and School Body) with some basement floors, access to which was through a side terrace, supported by a tuffaceous masonry retaining wall located on the south side of the hospital lot. On the north side it was bordered by the lot on which residential buildings insisted. The main elevation, to the east, was bordered by the main street of via A. Manzoni, while the rear area to the west was bordered by a free land characterized by steep slopes.
The intervention took place over a total area of about 4800 square meters and involved: asbestos reclamation work, removal of technological systems and demolition of the entire existing structure. The demolition works were planned scrupulously with the aim of avoiding damage to the landscape and preventing the dispersion of dust from the works. The start of the demolition took place in a corner position to prevent untimely collapses and the excavator was positioned at the highest level in the rear area to begin demolishing the first building, which is the Gym Body. Subsequently, the demolitions affected the School Body. Once the demolition at height was completed, a different excavator was used and completely dedicated to breaking up the rubble, as well as sorting and extracting the foundations.
